A modern bathhouse in Barcelona

Heat, cold and breath — the world's oldest social ritual, rebuilt for this city.

The bathhouse, reinvented

Every great city once had them: the Roman thermae, the hammam, the Russian banya, the Japanese sento. Places where people didn't just wash — they gathered, talked and reset together. Barcelona lost that tradition. ILO STUDIOS exists to bring it back in a modern form.

Instead of marble pools we run Barcelona's largest Finnish sauna, four ice baths at different temperatures and guided breathwork — structured into 60-minute sessions you share with a small group and a guide. It's not a spa, and it's not a gym. It's the third thing cities forgot they needed.

What the ritual is made of

The heat

A 24-person Finnish sauna at around 90°C — the social heart of the house, where the session begins and the body lets go.

The cold

Four ice baths from 3°C to 15°C. You choose your temperature; the breath and the guide carry you through.

The company

Sessions are shared and guided. Discomfort is easier together — and the conversation after the cold is half the point.

Frequently asked questions

Is ILO a spa?

No. A spa is somewhere you're treated; a bathhouse is something you do. Sessions are active and guided — heat, cold and breathwork in a structured 60-minute protocol, shared with a small group.

Is it mixed? What do I wear?

Yes — sessions are mixed, and swimwear is always required, in every session and every space. We provide two towels, lockers, showers and water.

Do I need to book ahead?

Yes, sessions run on a schedule with limited spots. Drop-ins are €32 and the Discovery Pack — three guided sessions for €45 — is the best first visit.

I'm visiting Barcelona. Is this for tourists?

Absolutely. We're at Bailén 56 in Eixample, a short walk from Sagrada Família and Passeig de Gràcia, and many sessions run in English. It's a very different afternoon from another museum.

Is this a gay sauna?

No — ILO is a wellness studio, not a cruising venue. Everyone is welcome here: sessions are mixed, guided, swimwear is always worn, and the focus is heat, cold, breath and good company.
